Parents Anger Management

Sometimes kids can drive you nuts. We, as parents tend to yell and scream at them. That's wat most parents often do...however, after that nasty moments, we start feeling guilty for doing that.

According to a phsychologist in Illinois, yelling shows that a parent has no strategy on parenting. what parents should be doing whenever they are losing control are:

1. Exit or wait - take a few minutes cooling off period from the situation

2. Use the word I instead of You - for example, "You never learn", "You are such a lazy kid" vs "I am angry with you because I need to pick up your clothes everyday", "I'm frustrated because your homework are not done yet"

3. Dont speak - when you are too angry, dont speak. You should rather write them down. While looking for a pen and a paper, might cool things off.

4. Stay in the present - when you are angry, dont list down all the issues in the past. Stick to the current issue

5. Restore good feeling - when you feeling better, it's good to reconnect again with your loved ones by apologizing and explain to them what you are feeling. it shows them that adults too can make mistakes.

6. Record your yelling - whenever you are turning ballastic, record yourself using a handphone and listen to your yelling. imagine yourself as a child and how hurting it is to hear those words uttered from a mother or father's mouth.

i hope the tips will help you to control your anger while managing your kids..
